Who are we?We are a network of community members and professionals associated with parishes of the major nominations across the Western suburbs of Brisbane. We link up with other groups working for social justice, doing charitable work, and engaging in advocacy and awareness raising. What is our Mission?
What are our major concerns?Aborigines and their full integration into Australian society and economy, as well as reconciliation and restitution for past discriminations especially support for Yelangi kindergarten, worthwhile self-help programs, stolen wages, stopping discrimination and working for rehabilitation; Creating awareness of and educating ourselves and others through providing accurate and validated information on issues of distributive and restorative justice, a culture of peace, sustainable living, creation of equal opportunities for all and inter-religious dialogue; Social concerns of homelessness, disabilities, multi-cultural concerns and prisoner release programs, poverty issues in Australia and abroad; Refugees, asylum seekers and their plight for justice in Australia especially the work of the Romero Centre, refugee and asylum seekers’ settlement and their integration; Advocating and lobbying for human rights issues in general and the promotion of peace. How are we structured?We have subgroups dealing with the following topics:
When and where do we meet?We meet from 7.30pm to 9.30pm every second Monday of the month between February and November. Meetings are held at the Taringa Baptist Church at 38 Morrow Street, Taringa, close to Taringa Rail Station ( UBD, p. 178 N 1). Click here for map

| ESJG Fundraiser Films ESJG is raising funds for promotion of Fair Trade goods throughout schools in Brisbane. Through the support of the Regal Twin cinemas at Graceville, we are selling tickets for one of two movies that will be screening at the cinema in July to Septemeber 2010. The films are Skin and The Reluctant Infidel. Tickets are $12 and are available from ESJG members or phone Sean on (07) 3376 8448. We also need more people willing to assist by selling tickets. Would you be willing to help out with this? |
